🆘 Get me out of here
Immediate help if you feel lost.
The Medina of Tetouan is a UNESCO World Heritage site — living, authentic and full of narrow alleys. This mode helps you discover it step by step, orient yourself with clear landmarks, and ask for help easily when needed.
Points that help you locate yourself

Recognizable gate / exit
Bab Okla / Bab El Oqla
One of the best-known and busiest gates of the medina. A good meeting point or clear reference to return to a known outer area.
Reference square
Gersa Kebira
A central square surrounded by craft shops and connected to several important streets of the old town. A good place to regain your bearings.
Commercial artery
Trankat
One of the medina’s main and busiest streets, with daily commercial life. If you recognize this area, you are on a major route.
Long commercial street
El Ayoun / Aaiun
One of the medina’s long streets, with varied shops and useful connections between areas. It can help you understand which direction you are moving.
Tips to orient yourself in the medina
Look at the ground
On some streets, longitudinal pavement lines help tell main streets, secondary ones, or dead-end alleys apart. Use it only as a hint and confirm with a visible landmark.
Going up, down, or walking flat?
The medina sits on a slope. Feeling whether you go up, down or across helps interpret your movement, but it does not replace a map or a visible landmark.
Look for permanent landmarks
Shops may close at night. Also look for street plates, fountains, arches, stairs, monumental gates, or squares.
